Camp
Thursday, March 25, 2010Copper goes to camp, aka "Doggy Daycare" (DDC) twice a week. I don't know what we would do without it. She runs around all day with other dogs, playing and basically exhausting herself (if that's even possible) by the time the day is over. Every last penny we earn goes to DDC but it is so worth it. You'll hear a lot more about DDC in the days and weeks to come I'm sure.
Today, Copper came home with this report card (no, I wouldn't make this up, she gets report cards twice a week):
I don't think we've ever gotten a report card without "Played Non Stop!" and "Excited!" but goodness knows I hope that day that never happens. Copper goes to DDC on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesday nights, after we get home from work and she has been at DDC all day, Copper is definitely more sub-dued and laid back, and we can actually cook a meal without Copper-proofing the kitchen or change clothes without having to hide our socks from her or get some work done without dirty paw prints and bite marks out of our paperwork.
But on Thursday nights, she is done. I think it must be the one-two punch of DDC on Tuesday followed closely behind by Thursday and she embraces both with all her might and just wears herself out by Thursday. And it is bliss. As I type this, she is asleep and really hasn't bugged us much all night. OK, except when, while we were eating dinner, she took the dish brush outside and quietly hid in the bushes with it to the point where we thought she had escaped the yard, or when she somehow found this little treasure in the back yard and brought it in through her doggy door and dropped it, soggy and rusty, at our feet:
Anyways, Thursdays are (mostly) the best. Thursdays are when our little Copper shows us how quiet and chill she can really be, and we like what we see.
Cheers to more Adventures in Copperland, and cheers to next Thursday.
She is such a lady!
