To The Lake and Back
Wednesday, January 20, 2010We went to the lake this weekend and Copper's friend Layla came along. Boyyyyyy did they have fun! Sometimes a little too much fun....
Layla tried to teach Copper how to swim but with not much success. I'm not sure that Copper is going to be a water dog, but we'll keep working on it. One thing we (re-) learned is that Copper doesn't tend to come when her name is called if there is something distracting nearby, like a huge lake and woods teeming with new smells and sounds. Actually, we're not sure at this point that after eight months she even knows her name, but I guess we'll put that in the work-in-progress category.
I had once thought that the best thing to do to tame the Copper-beast would be to get her a friend. In theory, two dogs can wear each other out better than one dog. Well, that does seem to be true but the part in between when the wearing out is taking place is triple the insanity, and although Copper did sleep for a whole day once we got home from the lake, the three days that it took to accomplish that took a few years off my life.
